Rani Mukherjee Interview on Dance Premier League

The Bong beauty Rani Mukherjee doest needs any introduction. The vivacious actress is debuting on small screen with the new reality show, Dance Premier League. She will be donning the seat as a judge in the show.

What was the reason for taking DPL?
I wasn’t planning to do this show as I was pretty obsessed with my latest filmdance but then the concept just fell on my lap like a national extension. I like to and thus thought of taking up the show.

Is there any strategy of judging?

I am not here to see the technicality. I will be judging them on performance, entertainment level and on their passion for dancing. In other words I will be the voice of janta. Shiamak will be the perfect judge on the show who will look out the minuet details of the contestants.

Judges on such kind of reality shows, criticise more? So will the audience be seeing you doing the same with the contestants?
That’s the job of critics and you should ask them. As I said earlier that I am people’s voice and even if there is criticism, one should be able to take it in a positive way. We criticise as we want our loved ones to work proper and do better in life so there is no need to feel bad.

Will the audience be seeing the dancing talent of the judges too?
Well I can’t tell you about my self as after hiring me as the judge for the show, Sony may not afford the performance so there are less possibilities of me dancing on stage (laughs)

Can we term that this is your start with the small screen?
Yes definitely this is my start with the television world.

What took you so long for deciding to take up television?
To come on TV you need to take time. This is the platform where you can communicate through 50 million people at one go. There are public who doesn’t like to come on theatre and watch films so by doing this show in a small way I’m connecting with them. Through this show I can reach their homes. In short this is the right time to be on television.

How long did it take you to say yes for the show?
Well if you want me to give you details of every seconds then listen, it took me 127 hours, 30 minutes and 21 seconds to decide for this show

It’s been heard that you are planning to invest in IPL?
I can’t afford an IPL team but may be after signing DPL this year I will be able to afford one IPL team next year (grins).

Rani Mukherjee makes her mark on the Small Screen

Rani Mukerji, who debuts on the small screen as the judge of Sony TV's new reality show "Dance Premier League", impressed the whole unit with her punctuality and professionalism.

"She was there dot on time, ready with make-up on before some of the other celebrities had even arrived in the studio. Once on the sets, she proved her total professionalism," said a source from the show.

"More than that, she has proved that she is a perfectionist. Even before the director could decide he needed another take, she called for it herself and redid the takes until she was satisfied with the result. It definitely pays to work with Aamir Khan at the beginning of one's career. After all, a leaf from his book will only hold good," added the source.

DPL brings back the Dance Reality

It’s either song or dance that works best when it comes to reality television in our country. And most entertainment channels have their token singing and dance shows – Sony has Indian Idol, Jhalak Dikhlaa Jaa and Boogie Woogie. We would have thought that would be enough.

But the people at the channel seem to think otherwise. They have mixed the Indian Idol and Boogie Woogie formula with the IPL cricket format to bring to us Dance Premiere League. Parts of the country have been divided into zones with cheesy names like Uttar ka Puttar, Southern Sizzlers and Eastern Tigers etc. Dance groups from the zones will try to outperform each other week after week.

Only audition episodes have been aired till now with Shiamak Davar and Arshad Warsi in the judges’ seats. Like Indian Idol auditions, the episodes had a mix of funny, desperate, talented and inspiring contestants. The best part of the show is that they are getting people with different styles of dance, people who have never even met before to come together as a team and perform. With the usual TRP inducing tears and drama, the auditions haven’t brought anything new to the table. And watching the immensely tactless and boring Arshad Warsi just makes you want to change channels.

The auditions are over, teams have been picked and from this Friday onwards Rani Mukerji will descend onto the small screen to judge the show along with Shiamak Davar. Zee TV’s Dance India Dance and India’s Got Talent on Colors brought out some great dancing talent from the country. We’re hoping the group performances of DPL will be able to hold our attention with some great performances as well.

Dance Premier League vs Bigg Boss 3

It’s the time to attract the couch potatoes. It appropriately suits when we talk about couch potatoes with mobile freaks, the proverb of “hitting where it hurts the most”

With various reality shows being telecasted for a limited period of time and making million of money within the set period actually fool the public.

Given you a solid reason, of a musical talent hunt which promises to give the country the most finite singer the country tries to grasp the audience by asking them to vote framing that the audience is the actual judge. People not realizing that they are being fooled not only by the reality show organizers but also by the mobile connection providers.
The procedure of making profit in one night is very simple. People are asked to vote as many times as they wish to for the reality show contestant.

With People switching between Sony's Dance Premier League and Colors Bigg Boss Season 3, now it is time for people to do the talking not through their mouths but with the remote.

Jung hai yeh TRP ki, jung hai yeh Reality shows ki...
